This week-long commuter academic camp features a mix of lectures and highly interactive, lab-based and hands-on activities to introduce students to materials science and engineering. An Industry tour and a group design-and-build project enhance the experience.

Dates June 23–27, 2025
Format In-person, commuter
Cost No charge for students accepted into the program
Eligibility Rising high school juniors and seniors
Deadline March 30, 2025
More Info Visit the ASM International Materials Camp. Contact Richard Knight, PhD at knightr@drexel.edu for more information.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Summer Institute

This four-day virtual summer camp on computer programming and hardware gives aspiring engineers the chance to learn about how fundamental disciplines within ECE — such as computer hardware and software, circuits, and algorithms — contribute to the technology that powers our world, from cell phones to autonomous vehicles. Students will learn the basics of programming embedded systems using the Raspberry Pi Pico 2w, a low-cost, low-power microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi.

Dates In-person: July 14–17, 2025
Virtual: July 21–24, 2025
Format Online
Cost $750 (includes hardware)
Eligibility Rising high school juniors and seniors. There are no prerequisites; students do not need any programming or electronics experience.
Deadline June 15, 2025
More Info Visit the Electrical and Computer Engineering Summer Institute. Contact Christopher Peters, PhD at cwp27@drexel.edu for more information.

Materials Science and Engineering Summer Institute

The Drexel University Materials Science and Engineering Summer Institute is a one-week program that will give aspiring scientists and engineers the chance to learn about how atomic elements arrange themselves to form the materials that are all around us. Furthermore, the Summer Institute will emphasize how variables in the processing of materials determine physical, mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. Through hands-on science and engineering activities, students will gain an understanding of how materials impact the fields of energy, biotechnology, and electronics. Sustainability and nanotechnology will be a theme woven through the modules. Both in-person and online versions of the program are available. Experimental supplies will be provided for both delivery modes.

Dates In-person: July 14–17, 2025
Virtual: July 21–24, 2025
Format In-person and virtual, commuter
Cost In-person: $750
Virtual: $450
Eligibility High school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in fall 2025
Deadline June 1, 2025 or until all available slots are filled
More Info Visit the Materials Science and Engineering Summer Institute. Contact Christopher Weyant, PhD at cmw329@drexel.edu for more information.
