(Clarksdale, Mississippi) —Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Coahoma Community College (CCC) is continuing to broaden its impact beyond campus walls by providing vital support for professional growth across the Mississippi Delta. From educators and healthcare professionals to community leaders, CETL is helping individuals maintain their credentials and sharpen their skills through accessible and personalized professional development opportunities.

Most recently, local professional Barbara Silas expressed her gratitude to CETL for assisting her in obtaining Continuing Education Units (CEUs)—a requirement for staying current in her field.

“I am writing to sincerely thank you for your support and assistance in helping me obtain my Continuing Education Units,” Silas shared. “Your guidance and effort made the process so much smoother and less overwhelming… Thanks to your help, I was able to meet my professional requirements and continue advancing in my field with confidence.”

Under the leadership of Dr. Ouida McAfee, CETL has become a trusted regional resource for lifelong learning, offering access to micro-credentials, academic coaching, instructional support, and custom training experiences. Its commitment to individualized support has enabled professionals at various stages of their careers to take the next step forward—often with renewed confidence and purpose.

“Barbara Silas’s success is a testament to CETL’s mission of supporting lifelong learning,” said Dr. McAfee. “Our partnership with the Office of Educational Outreach has been vital in making CEUs more accessible and meaningful. Collaborations like this allow us to serve not only our students and faculty but also the broader professional community.”

CETL’s growing influence reflects the institution’s broader commitment to serving as a hub for workforce and community development in the Delta. By working collaboratively with campus departments, local agencies, and individual professionals, the Center is equipping people with the tools they need to thrive in a changing job market.

As demand for upskilling and recertification continues to rise across industries, CETL stands ready to support professionals in meeting those demands—ensuring that learning doesn’t stop at graduation but continues through every stage of life.
